For assessing oiliness of the skin

For assessing potential dryness or oiliness of the skin

Know about skin oiliness

Sebum is an oily substance produced in sebaceous glands. It serves to shield the skin from moisture loss and bacterial infections.

Sebum plays a vital role in maintaining the skin's moisture and shielding it from drying out. However, when produced in excess, it can lead to oily skin and clogged pores, while insufficient production may result in dryness, itchiness, or flakiness.

Benefit for your clinic

Oily skin, characterized by excessive shine and greasiness, can be very annoying, while dry skin presents its own set of discomforts.

Use this measurement to evaluate how much oil the client's skin is producing, so you can treat oily or dry skin problems more effectively.

How to measure sebum

Sebum levels are assessed in the T-Zone using a specialized method.

A tape is applied to the skin, collecting sebum upon contact. As sebum accumulates, the tape gradually becomes more transparent.

The tape is then inserted into a sebum reader, which measures the degree of transparency, providing a reading between 0 and 100.

The software will display the result, providing information on whether the level is within normal range or outside normal values.
